Turf Care

Spring is the best time to establish a new lawn from seed or turf and kick start you r lawn maintenance programme. It is very important to make sure you have got your soil preparation right before you start. You should have already sprayed out your weeds in preparation for the growing season. Start aerating your lawn to get rid of the thatch build up to reduce compaction and increase air flow, it is also a good time to do a bit of top dressing with some sandy loam in low areas but be careful not to put it down to thick. During this time it’s good idea to incorporate wetter soil onto the turf while there is still moisture in the ground. To combat hydrophobic soils, wetter can be applied as a liquid like super wet or you could use Bailey’s growsorb granules. Once this is complete, apply fertilizer to your turf for best results wait about a week to kick your lawn along. You might consider using the Bailey’s range of fertiliser such as Bailey’s brilliance and Baileys 3-1-1 which contains a small percentage of phosphatMow more regularly to alleviate this issue; it is also a great time to make sure your lawn equipment is in good working order with sharp blades on all cutting equipment.

 

Baileys 3.1.1

A premium, fully granulated, balanced formula of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and trace elements iron and manganese. It is specifically formulated for use as a maintenance fertiliser and to establish new root development after winter dormancy or renovations. 3.1.1. Granulated is ideal for sporting complexes and grounds, turf farms, council parks, golf clubs and domestic lawns.

Baileys Brilliance

A premium grade, fully granulated phosphate free fertiliser. Containing high nitrogen and good potassium levels plus trace elements, Brilliance encourages vigorous growth, excellent colour and new root formation. It will maintain nutrition and replenish these vital elements which are rapidly utilised in turf. It is ideal for application on all sporting grounds and complexes, high profile playing fields, golf courses, schools and domestic lawns. Fully granulated to ensure ease of application and even distribution.

Baileys Grosorb Soil wetter

Grosorb is an environmentally friendly, organically based soil wetter. Its tailor made to overcome hydrophobic (water repellent) soil conditions common in Australia. It enables water to penetrate these soils and assists absorption, movement and retention. When applied to gardens and lawns it eliminates run-off, allowing water to soak through the soil. Grosorb also assists the effective use of fertiliser by channelling nutrients directly into the plant root zone.



Vegetable Garden

Spring is the perfect time of the year to start a vegetable patch it can be an enjoyable activity for the whole family with the added benefit of enjoying the fruits of your hard work, allocating space in a sunny position is very important & raised garden beds are the go, but if you are limited for space pots are a good option. Make sure to add compost and organic matter to the soil.

 Multigrow with Blood & Bone is especially good if you have sandy soil and live close to the coast, a few weeks before you plant turn over the soil also some superphosphate will aid in root development. Once your seedlings are up and about apply mulch making sure that the mulch does not come in contact with the stems of your plants as you could enhance fungal diseases. Not only will the mulch suppress weeds it will have a cooling affect and will break down to increase organic matter in the soil. A combination of Seasol and power feed make a great organic fertiliser as it reduces transplant shock, stimulates root growth, enhances microbial activity and increases resistance to adverse environmental conditions. Baileys Potting Mix

Baileys Premium Potting Mix is simply the best. It complies with Australian Standards Mark 3743 and has the famous 5 red ticks. During manufacture raw materials are fully composted to kill of weed seeds, pathogens and diseases. When using Premium Potting Mix you need only pot and water as complete nutrition is supplied with the addition of two forms of controlled release fertiliser; 3-4 month and slow release 8-9 month. It also contains the soil wetter Grosorb to ensure water and nutrient efficiency and is Waterwise accredited. This blend of ingredients will assist plant establishment and ensure vigorous growth, flowering and fruiting.

 

Baileys Blood & Bone

An organic based plant food for all you garden needs, Baileys Blood & Bone Mix helps to build up soil structure.
